Bedford writer supports Pierce, other Dems
To the Editor:
Living in Bedford for over 20 years, I understand how fortunate we are to have excellent leadership. In this “off year” election, it is important to remember to reelect County Legislator Erika Pierce to ensure that she can continue to represent us in Westchester’s District 2.
Erika is fighting ConEd and NYSEG rate increases so that we can keep more money in our pockets. She is working to keep our water clean, and secures funding to help keep our communities strong and safe. In addition, Ken Jenkins, our county supervisor, should be reelected and continue to lead with his unparalleled experience and know-how to serve all of Westchester.
I am proud to also support Ellen Calves for supervisor, Stephanie McCaine and Midge Iorio for Town Board, Jodi Kimmel for town justice and Allie Whalen for town clerk. Bedford’s Democratic leadership has combined fiscal responsibility, accountability, and has a record of accomplishments. Our hamlets are vibrant, safe, and among the best places to live in New York.
Please vote Pierce, Jenkins, Calves, McCaine, Iorio, Kimmel and Whalen. Early voting starts on Oct. 25 and Election Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Pierce Leads Fight Against NYSEG Public Rates Hikes In Latest Public Forum
At a public forum in Somers on Oct. 7, residents voiced outrage over soaring NYSEG bills and poor service. Speakers cited doubled or tripled costs, billing errors, and unhelpful staff. Legislators Erika Pierce, Vedat Gashi, and Jewel Williams Johnson heard concerns about NYSEG’s proposed 2026 rate hikes—23.7% for electricity and 33.5% for gas—totaling $557 million in added revenue. NYSEG claims the increases fund grid upgrades and storm repairs, but Pierce criticized weak tree maintenance and accountability. Officials urged residents to submit comments to the PSC, emphasizing collective action to demand transparency and reform from the utility and state regulators.

Erika Pierce is ‘a true public servant’ for Westchester County
To the Editor:
We are so fortunate to have Erika Lang Pierce as our County Legislator. We have lived in this area for over 30 years, and we are genuinely appreciative of all that Erika has accomplished for our community.
Erika is everywhere — whether it be the Community Center, Muscoot Farm or Septemberfest in Mount Kisco. When you call her office to ask a question or make a suggestion, Erika is the type of person who will get right back to you with answers and suggestions. That’s just the way she is. It doesn’t matter where we reside in this legislative district or what our political affiliations are, Erika is there for all of us. To us, this is the embodiment of a true public servant.
Our votes are very important this election season, so please get out and vote.

District 2 ‘darned lucky’ to have Erika Pierce as county legislator
To the Editor:
While it is easy to be distracted and dismayed by the turmoil in our world these days, please don’t forget to vote in the election this November for our local representatives.
We are darned lucky here in District 2 to have Erika Pierce as our county legislator. She is tenacious, energetic and tirelessly working to defend the health and welfare of our collective community. On a personal note, when our family was hit by some unexpected challenges during the days of COVID, Erika came and sat on our porch to lend us her ear and her support.
She is fearless and passionate in defending our rights and those of our neighbors. It is rare these days to have someone in office who is so accessible and willing to help. We need someone of her caliber to help us navigate the road ahead. Please remember to get out there and vote!
