Your Vote is Your Voice - Use it to Support our Community

Even if the skies are gray and the outlook from Washington cloudy, don’t let it overshadow the bright weekend - and the bright future - that lies ahead for our community.

That future only happens if we get out and vote!

This is our moment to send a message that we’re in this fight together - and to claim a victory so I can continue working hard for you.

I’m deeply honored to have earned the support of so many respected leaders who share our commitment to collaboration, progress, and results:

Endorsement Friday: education, public health, the lives of black americans

This week’s endorsement blast focuses on organizations at the heart of our community’s strength: those who protect our health, uplift our educators, and amplify Black voices in our democracy. As we see education gutted at the Federal level, public health undermined, and the lives of Black Americans under attack economically and with the potential for millions to end up disenfranchised either through Trump's executive order and/or through the court system, these organizations and the work they do are critical to the moment we are living in now.

No Kings. No Hate. No Fear.

This past weekend, the people of Westchester County made history. Thousands poured into the streets for the “No Kings” rallies, a breathtaking display of civic courage and community strength. From Brewster to Mount Kisco, crowds of every age and background gathered to send one unmistakable message: we will not bow to tyranny.

Flags waved. Drums beat. The energy was electric - not the chaos of anger, but the fire of democracy reignited. In a moment when too many are silent, Westchester spoke loudly, clearly, and proudly: freedom requires our voices.

These rallies aren’t just about protest; they are about purpose. They aren’t about partisanship; they are about principle. They remind us that democracy doesn’t die in one dramatic moment; it erodes when good people stop standing up. Speaking out is not only our right - it is our responsibility.

We are living in a time when truth itself is under siege, when power tries to bend the rules and silence dissent. Westchester showed what resistance and courage look like: peaceful, passionate, and unafraid to call out abuse of power.

Team Pierce: Friday Endorsements Alert!

This week, our Friday Endorsement Announcement is all about the powerful nexus of environmental stewardship, climate justice, and gender equity, all issues are under siege right now. At the National Associations of County's Environment, Energy and Land Use Committee, where I serve as a Vice Chair, we have had discussions about the dangerous implications of the Federal Government's plan to cease collecting Green House Gas emissions data, a program in existence since 2010. This will come on top of Trump's Climate Change Executive Order, issued at the beginning of the year. Sadly, we cannot combat climate change by pretending it doesn't exist. And attacks on all efforts to provide equity have become the new normal in 2025.

Showing Up!

We have three short weeks left before Election Day.

Our teams have been out knocking on thousands of doors, calling voters, speaking with neighbors and answering questions. Yard signs are ready to go. Ads are running. Endorsements are in. And through it all, this campaign has thrived on the dedication of countless volunteers. I am proud - and grateful - for every letter of support you’ve written and every hour you’ve given.

At the doors, I keep hearing the same two questions: “How are we going to fix this?” and “Wait, you have an opponent?!”

Endorsement Alert: This Friday is all about choice!

This week, our Friday Endorsement Announcement is all about Choice. And while we choice is traditionally thought of as being just about reproductive health care, in light of the very concerning conversations being held at the Supreme Court, I would like to suggest it is so much more.

Over the past two weekends, I’ve knocked on more than 150 doors and spoken with countless neighbors - in our downtowns, on our sidewalks, and at community gatherings. Across every conversation, I’ve heard the same deep concern: our country and our democracy are at risk.

Teachers, healthcare workers, researchers, contractors, housing advocates, and nonprofit leaders have all shared how national instability is shaking their fields and straining their ability to serve others. I’ve heard horror and heartbreak, including specific concerns about the use of military helicopters in ICE raids in Chicago, about racist and dehumanizing messages being pushed through official government channels, and about the crippling effects of the shutdown and current policies on families, public health, and higher education. Some have even shared that they are considering leaving the country.

These are real, urgent, and justified fears. I share them. But I also want to highlight something powerful that I didn’t hear.

I didn’t hear about the loss of hope in our communities. While some may be truly scratching their heads over how some of the local residents seem to be supporting actions being taken in DC, from what I am seeing, our belief in our community and our ability to get along with our neighbors is (mostly) intact and strong. Despite the anxiety, despite the anger, I saw people express hope for and pride in their neighborhoods. Most people still believe in the active part of community - in showing up for one another, in talking to neighbors even when we disagree, in working side by side to make our towns stronger.

Public Safety In Trump’s America

As we begin this new week, our nation is once again in mourning. Four mass shootings - in Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, and New Orleans - claimed more lives over the weekend, adding to a devastating and familiar pattern of violence. At the same time, our President is preparing to send troops to a fictional security crisis in Portland, suggesting our military should train on the streets of our cities and cutting critical Counter Terrorism and Homeland Security funding to NY by 86%

Political Theater

These are overwhelming times, with news headlines which can make it hard to know how and where to stand up. This week, the Majority Democratic Caucus of the Westchester County Board of Legislators strongly condemned President Trump’s reckless and baseless decision to deploy 800 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., and seize control of the Metropolitan Police Department.
